
The Faculty of Education, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Education in Science and Mathematics (SEAMEO RECSAM), marking the beginning of a strategic partnership to strengthen Science and Mathematics education across the region.
The signing ceremony was held on Thursday, 2 October 2025, with UiTM represented by Prof. Ts. Dr. Nor Hayati Saad, Assistant Vice Chancellor (Strategy), and witnessed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shireena Basree Abdul Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Education. SEAMEO RECSAM was represented by Dr. Azman Jusoh, Centre Director, and witnessed by Ms. Rashihah Hj. Othman.
The MoU outlines a collaborative framework that includes co-hosting international conferences, producing joint research publications, and establishing UiTM as a Satellite Training Venue for RECSAM’s regional programmes. The partnership also aims to promote staff and student exchanges, fostering broader exposure, innovation, and shared expertise among educators and learners.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by building capacity and enhancing pedagogical practices in Science and Mathematics education throughout Southeast Asia. It also supports UiTM’s strategic vision to expand its global academic footprint through meaningful partnerships and knowledge exchange.
Both institutions expressed optimism that this partnership will catalyse impactful educational initiatives and contribute to the development of future-ready educators equipped to meet the evolving demands of the 21st century.
