The Faculty of Education was established in November 1997 with the aim of producing Bumiputera teachers who are knowledgeable and competent and will form the backbone of the country's educational system.

2. 14 more awarded High Performance School (HPS) status
Malaysia is getting closer to its dream of producing excellent students from 100 schools by the end of the year. The Education Ministry announced another 14 High Performing Schools, bringing the total number of HPS to date to 66. Each school received an allocation of RM700,000 and also receive RM800,000 in the next two years. These schools are also given special allocations, incentives and training for leaders, teachers and academic staff. Read more

4. eBuku Hasil Sarjana UKM Tarik 46,000 Pembaca
Sebuah eBuku berjudul ‘Web 2.0 Tools in Education: A Quick Guide’ dihasilkan Timbalan Pengarah Pusat Pembangunan Akademik Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Prof Dr Mohamed Amin Embi, berjaya menarik seramai hampir 46,000 pembaca sebahagian besar dari Amerika Syarikat, dalam tempoh tiga bulan selepas dimuat naik ke laman Scribd.com. eBuku yang boleh dimuat turun secara percuma itu adalah sebahagian daripada usaha UKM menyumbang kepada Sumber Pendidikan Terbuka – OER (Open Educational Resource), kata Prof Mohamed Amin yang gembira dengan sambutan di luar dugaan itu.
